Softball Player Development

At Seattle Pride Fastpitch Academy, we are passionate about helping softball players reach their full potential and achieve excellence in the sport they love.

Basketball is a fast-paced sport that requires a combination of speed, strength, and agility. Proper training in these areas can significantly enhance your performance on the court. Here's a breakdown of each component and some training tips:

Training Approach :

Speed - Perform short sprints (20-40 meters) with full rest between repetitions.

  • Plyometrics: Include exercises like box jumps, depth jumps, and bounds to enhance your explosive speed

  • Agility Ladder Drills: Practice various ladder drills to improve footwork, coordination, and quick direction changes.

  • Hill Sprints: Running uphill can help build leg strength and speed simultaneously.

Strength Training - Compound Exercises: Focus on compound movements like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and overhead presses to build overall strength and power.

  • Plyometric Strength Exercises: Include exercises like squat jumps, medicine ball throws, and power cleans to develop explosive strength.

  • Core Strength: A strong core is essential for stability and power. Incorporate exercises like planks, Russian twists, and hanging leg raises.

Agility Training:

  • Cone Drills: Set up cone courses to practice sharp cuts, pivots, and quick changes in direction.

  • Lateral Movement: Perform lateral shuffles, side lunges, and lateral bounds to improve lateral agility.

  • Reactive Drills: Use partner drills or reaction balls to work on your responsiveness and agility.

  • Agility ladder drills: Ladder drills are excellent for improving footwork, coordination, and quickness. They are a must have to any basketball training routine.
